Why are you recommending this?

Stephen Prastman
Answer by Stephen Prastman

In some cases, alpha versions are actually the final ones. However, the software is recommended because it simply works in this current form. I have installed it on my computer, and there were no errors, and the things mentioned in the changelog work are they should.

A
Answer by Alex Urbach

Yes, there is a Pro version of TeraCopy, but it involves paying some money in order to buy it since it's not free. The Pro version comes as an extension to the free version, but provides additional features that are not found in the free one.

Features like:

  • Copy/move to your favorite folders.
  • Save reports as HTML and CSV files.
  • Select files with the same extension/folder.
  • Remove the selected files from the copy queue.

Is there a copying speed limit in TeraCopy?

A
Answer by Alex Urbach

No, there is no speed limit when it comes to the Copy operation. TeraCopy has been designed having no restrictions in the terms of the speed. It will always try to copy files with maximum speed and efficiency. This means that as long as your computer supports it, TeraCopy will always copy files with the maximum speed it. However, this speed is greatly influenced by the disc activity present in the moment when you copy a large file.

Answer by Alex Urbach

There isn't actually a trick to do it. You can simply have TeraCopy using the maximum copy speed by closing down applications that cause read/write operations on your hard drive. It's better to close all the applications while the TeraCopy is running. This will provide maximum file speed. Additionally, you can start Task Manager. Locate the TeraCopy process in the list and right click it. Choose Set Priority, then Above Normal and that's it.

It says when I try to copy files that it's out of memory. How do I solve this?

A
Answer by Alex Urbach

Unfortunately, this is a known bug present in the TeraCopy application. It happens when you're trying to copy files higher than 80-100 GB. If you have such files, then it's easier to simply use the built-in Windows copy function or split the filer using an application like HJSplit and then use the TeraCopy application to transfer them from one location to another.

Additionally, you can forward this bug to the Support section provided by the developers of the application: http://support.codesector.com/index.php?/Tickets/Submit

Create a ticket and use the wizard-style interface to finish the procedure.

How do I deal with the error 'Preparing file list'?

A
Answer by Alex Urbach

There are a few users who encountered this issue, but no solution was provided. I recommend opening a ticket on the support page provided by the developer.

Additionally, remove the application and reinstall it. This should fix most of the problems with the application. I am using this for a few years and haven't had any issues with it.

This software is basically for accelerating the speed of copying and moving files. When I copy any file larger than 1GB, it doesn't accelerate the transfer. What can I do? Is there anything wrong with my software or my hard drive?

Answer by mohammadrezajj

It's good for files less than 1 GB.
